White Chocolate Candy Popcorn

This colourful and delicious snack mix recipe combines crunchy popcorn with melted white chocolate, salty pretzels, and M&M candies.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (104g) popcorn kernels (unpopped)
  • 1 1/2 cup (12 oz) chopped Cococo couverture white chocolate or white chocolate drops
  • fine sea salt or flaky sea salt
  • 1 1/2 cups broken salted pretzel pieces or baby pretzels
  • 1 (10 oz) bag green and red Milk Chocolate or Mint M&Ms (optional)
  • Sprinkles (optional)
  • Instructions
  1. Line a baking tray with parchment or wax paper.
  2. Pop the popcorn according to the manufacturer's directions, using your preferred method (stove top, hot air popper, microwave). Remove any unpopped popcorn kernels (this is important). Pour popcorn into a large bowl, large enough for mixing the other ingredients.
  3.  Melt the chopped white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl on 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval until melted and smooth. Be careful not to overheat, because white chocolate can burn easily. Read our blog How to Melt and Temper White Chocolate.
  4.  Drizzle half of the melted white chocolate over the popcorn, then stir, scraping the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula and folding over and tossing gently a few times. Be careful not to crush the popcorn.
  5. Add the broken pretzel pieces and M&Ms (if using) to the large bowl of popcorn. Toss to combine.
  6. Drizzle the remaining half of the melted white chocolate over the popcorn mixture, and gently toss until everything is evenly coated.
  7. Pour the mixture into a single layer onto a tray lined with parchment or wax paper. If using sprinkles, now is the time to pour them on.
  8. Allow the candy popcorn mixture to cool and harden, then gently break into pieces and store in an airtight container.
